Twila Donaldson describes herself as compassionate, upbeat, and 
empathetic and believes that community service is important in life. It 
follows, then, that what motivates her is LIFE. Some of the things that 
fill Twila’s time are genealogy, painting, reading, travel, and her 
family and cats.
 
After 40 years behind a desk in accounting positions, Twila wanted to do 
something that would help people more personally; and she wanted to be 
able to deal with members and employees in her own way. She has been the 
owner of Ladies Workout Express for 5 years. It is a 30 minute circuit 
facility, but it is much more in Twila’s mind. She sees her business as 
a source of support for its members and even helps with smoking cessation.
 
In the current economic climate, one of Twila’s biggest challenges with 
running her business is keeping a steady income. As her members had less 
discretionary income, membership in a workout facility was seen as 
something to be cut.
 
Twila says that Women Entrepreneurs has supported her with her business 
because she is in the company of women who understand the peaks and 
valleys of owning your own business. Not having to explain what she is 
talking about, she only has to say it and there is support during the 
valleys and celebration during the peaks.
